Sara Schuch '09

Every year, the TDF department gives out the coveted Schaffner award to a theatre major at F&M. This year's recipient is senior Sara Schuch. The Schaffner award was established in the memory of Franklin J. Schaffner '42. After graduating from F&M in 1942, Schaffner went on the become an award winning director of movies, television, and plays. The award is given so that the recipient may study abroad at a British theatre school. Students do not apply for this award, but our chosen by the Theatre department faculty.

Sara Schuch '09, is a local Lancaster, PA resident, along with being a very important asset to F&M's theatre program. She has stage managed many shows, including The Rocky Horror Show and Cabaret, and always helps back stage in set building and any other aspect of crew. She plans on using the Schaffner award to take two short courses in London, one on Scenic Art Techniques and one on Textile Effects for Costume. In addition to taking these classes, she hopes to see as much theatre as possible in the evenings, as well as "eating lots of Cadbury and having Pimms and lemonade with my fish and chips on the beach in Brighton!!"
