Clara Rottsolk, soprano; Rainer Beckmann, recorder; Stephen Bard, baroque oboe; Donna Fournier, viola da gamba; Marcia Kravis, harpsichord

Ensemble La Bernardinia is one of the most recent addtions to Phialdelphia's rich early music scene. Performing on copies of period instruments, the group specializes in chamber music from 1600-1750 presented with a refreshing twist and luscious sonority. While the core ensemble consists of Rainer Beckmann, recorder; Donna Fournier, viola de gamba; and Marcia Kravis, harpsichord, guest musicians are invited on a regualr basis to explore the exensive, varied repertoire of Baroque chamber music. In "An Italian Extravaganza: Cantatas and Sonatas by Hadel, A. and D. Scarlatti, Corelli, Vivaldi, and Chedeville" Clara Rottsolk, soprano, and Stephen Bard, baroque oboe, join Ensemble La Bernardinia in a program of passionate cantatas and virtuosic sonatas in the Italian style . The group's name itself refers to the title of a piece by Italian composer Girolamo Frescobaldi that Ensemble La Bernardinia performed on their debut program.
